Went out deep sea fishing two days. This is my nephew, Phil, with his Ono, weighed 28#

Walked up to this Monk Seal. I thought it was dead. Bellie uphill, head downhill, dry, crusty looking. A wave came up & hit him/her in the face. It popped it's head up & looked right at me - I was about 3 feet away. About 7 feet long. Decided I better not touch it. They come in on high tide. Tide goes out, they sleep on beech until high tide comes back in & washes them out. They are protected. Rare that you can walk up to them because a patrol tapes off the area. Fine of $5000 do get close like I did - oops!


Typical grazing pastures. Land between mountains & road/ocean is mostly pastures.

Yes, Phil is a lot of fun. Makes me laugh throughout the day. We had a GREAT time.

We call that species of fish Wahoo in the Atlantic and Gulf. Very good eating and makes great ceviche.

I won't argue with you on that - they all sound Greek to me. I know Ono is very popular, but Wahoo might be right. Phil is gone to RI for the weekend, so I can't verify with him.

We saw lots of whales, one mom & baby was right next to our boat at the surface. Saw dolphins, turtles (one really large one next to the boat), and flying fish - never saw one before - never saw whales before or a seal either. More "firsts" for this old lady. Loving life!
