He looks like a good terminal sire for growth WW YW; His CE is pretty good; MWW is weak which is a reflection of a very low Maternal Milk; CW is good; YG is fair; Marb is fair; BF is weak; REA is good; API is Good and TI is good.
Based on his MM --I couldn't use him b/c any replacement heifer I might get from a breeding would be the bottom of the production chain, here. Plus a 5/8 SM AN > I have no use for and I am not hell bent on maintaining color.
It often plays out this way when you have tremendous growth like Sharper Image, for example, you end up with good terminal cross type individuals, but lacking in maternal traits as well as carcass merit traits YG Marb BF. REA is a strong suit in SM anyway, so we don't feel we need more of that. Another reason I would steer clear of him is that he goes back to MV Red Light, which was a foot problem sire back in the day as well as a fool.
I have decided to breed her to GAR Selective for a first calf:

CE is excellent; BW is Excellent; WW is ok; YW is ok; MCE is excellent; Milk is moderate which is what we prefer; MWW is good; CW is weak; YG is a bit weak; IMF is off the charts; BF is bad; REA is ok; API and TI is off the charts.
First calf heifers; we always breed them to low BW bulls, because all we are interested in is that they calve unassisted, become a good momma and wean a decent calf. WW and YW normally decrease when using Angus bulls. Some carcass merits we lose on like BF and REA and YG, which is par for the course especially since this individual would be a 1/4SM 3/4AN and if it is a heifer will more than likely be sold anyway. If it was a bull calf; as it stands right now, today; would be the highest API and TI S/A bull in North America, but would be sold, as well, probably to a Black Angus breeder. Either way, this individual would bring 5+K as a Yearling. The bottom line for us is quality and we lean more toward high carcass merit qualities (IMF) and Calving ease qualities than we do growth (WW YW CW). Most of the commercial herds around here (even Black Angus) are lacking in IMF and most buyers around here have brood cows in the 1100-1200 lb mature weight categories, with some Black Angus herds in the 1400 lb mature weight category. Calving ease is still the most sought after trait in our buyers minds as they recall the days of FB Simmental that were horrific -- lol I appreciate your feedback as i am always looking for bulls to try.
