Just pulled another calf

This time found the heifer laying down with the calf about 2/3 out. Mom was really tired, front part of calf was almost dry and calf was bawling. I got it pulled in about 15 minutes with mom pushing some also. Mom immediately started doing her job cleaning and licking. Calf sucked just a little but was still laying down when I left and mom was still licking it.

Hope it works out. Heifers can be a challenge.

I've never used the pour-on Banamine but I think this would be a good place to try it. I've read that giving both the cow and calf pain meds after a difficult birthing pays big dividends in both health and weight gain.

Glad she got up..sometimes those first calvers traumatic experiences, are hard to get em to go right to mothering up..
