We sold a 975 steer for $94.50 cwt. It was at the new barn and I'm curious how that relates to others

Thanks

Sounds pretty close to what they're selling for around here. The report in today's paper for this past weekends sale list them as selling right around a dollar a pound.

Seems consistent what feedlots have been paying up here, (in that weight) heard other buyers talking about "betting on the Feb market"

Hey Dun -

Which new sale barn?

I thought I seen what lookes like a new facility on Highway 44 down between Lebanon and Springfield, but wasn't sure if that is what it was.
Just curious about where the new sale barn is.

That's the one I told you about in the PM I sent a week ago. It's the old Lebanon salebarn that mysteriously burned to the ground after it was bought by the outfit in Springfield and they finished their new facilities. It's a good facility for a smaller auction barn, sure beats Buffallo. Not at spiffy as Joplin or Sprignfield, but they don;t run near as many head through as those do either. They had 700 hd of cattle plus the usaul misc. (chickens, goats, pigs, etc.) that you don;t see at the bigger barns. None of the people I talked to had any complaints aboout the prices, except one guy that bought a bunch of stockers that he said were high. They had the usual first sale teething problems but those should smooth out when they get a few more sales under their belts. When you figure the cost of fuel anymore, even if I get a little less it's probably a better deal then hauling them to Springfield.
Time will tell.

Sorry Dun -

Didn't know I even received that PM.
Haven't seen any advertising for that new barn in the ad tracker or papers. Guess they will get the word out. Sometimes I like the smaller barns as I may only be selling 3-4 calves. Seems like the big barns push all these small deals till the end (no matter when they arrive at the barn) when all the sellers have filled there orders out and just looking for deals.

It's been in the local Weekly Trader the past coouple of weeks. Gave up on reading the adtracker a while back. Unless there's more then 1 Pacific, MO, it would be a pretty long haul to Lebanon for just a couple of calves. Although you could tour the barrel factory whiile you were in the area.

That price sounds good for this part of the country too...none that big went through but the 7-8 wts were selling for 97-104
Starting to see the seasonal decline. DMc

Dave,

Which sale barn do you go to and what days of the week are they. Our closest is Lewiston, but it's on Wednesdays and since I work four 10 hour days it makes it tough to get there.

Sounds like you did pretty well with an animal that weight. They were down in our area Friday night. Most would have been happy with that price.
