July in TX

Help Support CattleToday:

I was telling my oldest son that this was the way it used to be when I was a kid and hoeing cotton for my grandad
It was cold in the mornings
Maybe things are going back to normal

Well, I don't know where in Texas BHB is located but last Saturday it was 106 at 11:00 in the morning where I'm at. And still no rain!!

Out west south-west of Fort Worth about 60 miles or so.

Calman has been hogging all of the recent rains in the area!

Grasshoppers are hauling us off like I have never seen.

Been hearing stories of the drought south-west of here that is way more extreme than us. The "lakes" here are basically the old river beds.

I would expect our average temp at daylight to be around 78 or so.

58 degrees this morning. What the heck? I bet the angus are cheering!

Last time I remember temp's this cool was summer 1972 that was one cold winter that followed.
We had some cold winter's following the 70/71 drought for several year's.
Geese started arriveing in Sept that year.

could be worse...we now have canada geese that have been reclassified as resident canada geese....they are here year round....
there are still migrations along the big rivers along th ecoast where they swoop in and devour all the small grain fields but in the central part of the state they just stay here....

perhaps when our coversion is completed to the socialist democratic state of virginia the geese will migrate again to a place more to their conservative liking....thinking about it myself...

87 deg right now, with a mini thunderstorm right over me. only 3 drops of rain so far--lots of lightning and thunder. I gotta log off till it passes..

We need a good winter to get these bugs under control. Not the entire winter mind you. Just a few good hard freezes.

I think it was the winter of '83/'84 when it stayed below freezing for 8 days here. I could be off a year.

You got the year right not the day's as it stayed below freezeing here like 14 day's got down to 2 deg's here! Now that is bullshyt in my book.

Well Boogie I gotta say we we're getting some rain there for a while but it seems to have shut off.
