I wouldn't get too attached, Couple more weeks and he may pack it in due to no colostrum. They seem to give false hope and then after a few weeks they fade away.. He may not, but you've already over spent though.
 
He's getting great care, but joint ill is serious stuff, follow your vet's recommendations and keep him on antibiotics for as long as the vet says. We had one where we thought the meds worked, but he later relapsed, retreated relapsed, retreated relapsed, long story short, died 4 months later. But sounds like you're on top of it early, Best of Luck.
