Well, I did it! I traded my Ford 3600 for a green machine. BTW, does anybody know if this is one of the models John Deere manufactured in Augusta, Ga.? Just curious. Funny, everyone keeps saying you can't find an American made tractor anymore. I know they're still making 5000 series JD's in Augusta, Ga.

I can't find a web site that gives the spec's or any other details about the 5300. About all I've been able to find is that they began making the 5300 in 1992, supposedly in Augusta. They don't say when they quite making the model either. Even that info is suspect, because that same site reported that the 5300 had 9F/9R gears. Mine's 8F/8R.

I think the 5300 came from Mexico, but not sure. The plant in Augusta doesn't do any manufacturing. It is an assembly point for JD's compact tractors. Basically they take components from Yanmar and assemble the compacts. It is a way to say it is made in America, but my definition is different than many of the manufactures.

Wish I would of known Been look for 3000 series ford.

They built them in Mich by where I grew up.

The 3600 had been completely reconditioned and overhauled 5 years ago when I bought it. It also had an Allied 395 loader with joystick control, w/bucket & spear. Got 10K for it.

Mine was built in 1995. Tractor data plate says "Made in the USA"

I have the same machine. 1996 model 4x4. If you look at Tractordata.com they list the tractor as being manufactured in Georgia.

I have a 2003 5510 that says made in GA also. But if you look at the individual parts you'll see that most of them come from other countrys. The tractor is just assembled in GA, and not very well I would add.

As hot and humid as it's been, A/C in the cab, makes one get over things a bit faster.
