My drive shaft is broken at the front yoke.this is a crazy design.the yokes have reg.u-joints but the yokes have an extra pin type thing that goes into a large housing.the pin has broken on one side.do i have to use this type shaft? is there an update?will any other shaft of same size work?

thanks for any help

It sounds like to me that what you are describing is a C.V. Joint, or Constant Velocity joint. These are common on newer balers, and cutters etc. I would call you local dealer, and see if they can get the piece that is broke, if not then you are looking at a new drive shaft. You should be able to just buy the half that you need. Hope this helps. Kyle

Like previous poster said You have described a cv joint and if you have never seen one before my guess would be the most important part of the joint never received any grease and that was the cause of the broken part. Make sure on your new drive shaft you spin the shield and find the spot to grease the middle of that joint in between the regular u joints.

Had the same problem with a 435 baler. Found that I could buy the whole shaft with CV joint from Agri-Supply cheaper than I could get the parts to repair OE.

We have the CV PTO complete with clutch in stock for $550.
