what on earth are those froggy things!! they look like our Queensland canetoads...yuck! are they poisonous? lovely daughter though!!

Son them there is bull frogs and are a delicacy.
Some people only eat the hind legs but the connoisseurs only throw away the jump and croak.
These involves several social gatherings involving the hunt as well as the cook out.
properly fried with the right sides you will slap your Granny out of the way.
 
We eat frogs everywhere in this country I think. Before I was born my dad decided to make some money on the side by raising bullfrogs for restaurants. He tended them diligently and a week before he was ready to catch them and ship them my uncle Fritz invited the family over for a frog legs dinner. As I understand it they were huge and delicisous. When dad went to catch all of the frogs he found the ponds were empty. Seems uncle Fritz had caught them all and that was the frogs leg dinner.

Not fishy at all. They are excellent. They are a light white meat. Very good. Farm raised are not as good as those caught in the wild.

Eeeek, I can't believe you actually EAT them!! I knew they ate frog legs in France but didnt know you guys do too!
We don't even eat kangaroos and our place is full of them. Too good for me I'm afraid!

I'd think kangaroo would taste like venison. Have you tried it?

I have thought the same thing I would be eatin me some big jumpin rats if I lived there.
Pretty well eat anything with fin, fur or feathers now.

I guess they have never thought about fish fornicating and crapping in water.
 
Used to be nothing to go down to the pond and gig a couple dozen in an hour or so, but the long legged cranes, bass and an occassional gator keep the population down now.

There's a scum covered pond on the east side of 59 between Cleveland and Livingston that is full of them, but that thing is home to hundreds of moccasins too. You couldn't pay me enough to go in there.

You want to have a blast get a Zebco 33 and a small top water popper and cast it in front of them.
Talk about a blast catching them on a rod and reel, you will laugh till you cry.
Had them fight like a bass then take off across the pasture.
 
Yes, we do eat fish, we love muddy old yellowbelly out of the creeks....but a toad....I don't think so! Have you ever seen a canetoad? It would be like eating one of those - although I think the chinese are partial to them if available....
