It is off season for my swather so I am going through it replacing what needs to be. I replaced a pully that drives the roller on the long side . While I was in there I decided to put new bearing in . My question is on the short side the bearing is a little loose and the roller is worn. It is a chore to get the bearing out but if I torched the roller into it wouldn't be so bad. I dread going to John Deere store and pricing a roller from a swather that old. Does any one know of after market rollers for the canvas (rubber on the outside)?

Greetings - have you considered having one made for you at a machine shop?

I blew the main drive pulley on our 8312 Case discbine last year. New replacement cost - over 400 bucks.

Made new - balanced and painted - from scratch by a machinist I know - 200 bucks flat.

Yeah a deal from a friend, but what are friends for. I do lots for him on the side as well. Know someone who might like a little of that folding money?

He also made me a roller for my old NH650 baler - beat the manufacturers price by a couple of hundred bucks - so I tend now to talk to some of those machine shops - they seem to be ready to deal - more so than the parts pushers.

Stay well,

Bez'
