They do pretty well!
The Maines compete right up with the crossbred around here.
The Shorthorns are gaining in popularity are usually very gentle & easy to train. A little extra work keeping them clean. I think Shorthorns did top honors at Ohio State Fair last year.
If you want in the purebred classes I'd probably show a Shorthorn heifer.
If you want to compete in steer class, the Shorthorn x Maine cross does very well, or a PB Maine steer.
Do your parents know you are thinking of crossing over "to the other side" Angus girl!? :shock: ;-)
