Came across this term from an auction in a different state. I've never heard the term used in my neck of the woods. Could someone enlighten me.

Several members are from that.general area so maybe someone can tell usApparently Giddings Texas. My first thought was palpated and bred cows or heifers...
So with gate cut you might get cows from several ranches? And gate cut you dont choose what you buy?The cows will be preg checked and jackpoted to be sold gate cut as they sort.
They'll all be put in a big pen and tagged for ownership. They call that the jackpot pen.
Ya just never know what will be coming in the ring. However they come outta the big pen. Not sure how they will do that with pairs tho.So with gate cut you might get cows from several ranches? And gate cut you dont choose what you buy?

So you might get a cow bred Brangus, 1 Angus, 1 Highland, 1 Charolais.Right!
Sometimes they will sell a group. 5 or 6. 2 or 3. All alike. Say 3x4 or 7x7 etc
But they could all be from different owners
Ahhh yes. There is always that too!!So you might get a cow bred Brangus, 1 Angus, 1 Highland, 1 Charolais.
Now that makes more sense.Since we sell nearly everything as singles, those jackpot pens will have multiple consignors' cattle in them. If a producer has enough animals that will sort up, they may be sorted off and grouped.
Buying bred cows is like looking for the prize in a box of CrackerJacks.
