Is their any strong opinions against the ivermectin worm and fly control? I have found ivomax (I think that's the name) for $100 for 5 liters. I make sure there is no rain in the forcast and I dose them about 1 1/2 what is required.

Can a small overdose hurt cattle at all? Does anyone have a strong opinion against the ivermectin compared to ivomec or cydectin?

A small overdose shouldn't hurt the animals, but I see no reason that you should overdose. As for Ivermectin vs Ivomec, Ivomec IS Ivermectin.

I have had pretty good luck with some of the generic ivermectin. The last 5 liter I bought was under $80 from our vet. I have had a few calves that had the skin on their backs peel after pouring them but no permanent damage or scars. The eprinex is probably easier on them in that respect.

I was told the high alcohol content in the generics is what burns the cattle's hides, if you spread it out good when applying it, I don't see as many "burnt" spots. It's down to $69-$72 for 5L here. I use it on the mature cows but the calves get Eprinex. I don't mind using a cheaper product on cows but hate to skimp on the calves - they pay the bills.

There is no need to waste your money on over dosing them it works well as ordered. randiliana is right they are all really the same core med.
