Happy Birthday Beefy[/img]

Thank you, I think she's beautiful - the past 12 babies born on my property have been bulls, I was very excited to see a heifer born this time.

I will take a pic with the pink ribbon this evening!!!

How accurate are the calfscale tapes ???
I ordered one last week, it arrived today - this calf is past the 24 hour range but I measured anyway -- according the the calf tape she weighs 83 lbs. I swear she doesn't seem to weigh that much.

We had a bad storm blow thru here a few days ago, I picked her up to put her in the barn and she just didn't seem to weigh any more than a 50lb bag of feed.

Be surprized at how much they weigh.
Looks like she's got the mane...we like that in the herfs.
Nicl looking calf...can't wait for some pics of her standing.

still trying to get some good pics of the calf by herself, if she's not laying down, she's suckling or running. She likes to run. One week old today and is drinking out of the water trough and eating hay.

Without the ribbon I can;t tell if it's a heifer or a bull. Or do the bulls get a bowtie and the heifers a hair ribbon

dun

awh!! they get whatever hasn't been used yet on other newborns.

you're right about the navel part - from a distance hard to tell. the cord pulled at the calf's naval, bleed very little. Guess it'll be ok.
