All the gifts are unwrapped. The children are scurrying around deciding what to play with next. Although this is a day to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, I am ashamed to say I get depressed every year.
I am too darned busy to even think about things right now - sounds like you need to be as well - if you were here I would put you to work - one of the best therapies is moving snow. And yes, you would love it - cab and heat and friends all coming to see us.
Christmas has yet to start here - everyone including the kids, various relatives and a bunch of guys I served with overseas and their wives are coming soon.
There will be two ovens and three stoves at the house - all going strong to get enough food ready and on time. The daughters spent about 5 hours baking last night at their homes and I was on delivery duty - picking up things to take from one place to another in order to get all the pies and such done. My girls are great cooks but pretty bossy when it comes to getting the RIGHT kind of flour for pastries! LOL
I bet there are 20 different kinds of darned flour. Maybe more!
I told the guys when it comes time to eat today that the women get the tables - we sit on the floor or eat off the counter. No one seems to be too worried about that! And yes, I am putting them to work to help with the chores this evening - many hands makes light work and they are all ready to make it happen.
If the weather does not get skanky, I think I will fire up the pit in the back yard and we will roast a few marshmallows and look at the sky.
I am out to do chores in this windy cold day - have to move a bunch of snow to make sure everyone can get up the laneway - it is long (about 450 yards to the gravel road) and somewhat steep and well drifted in this morning - got the skid steer and the tractor with a 9 foot snow blower all plugged in and ready to start - the township plow has yet to come by so I might have to blow an extra half mile to the pavement so all can get here.
Lots of animals coming up for water right now so it looks like they are all good to go. One less place I have to check on.
Just the barn and three big pens outside.
You be safe and be happy - life is good and there are people that would probably envy you in your situation - which means you are a blessed man - think on that for a bit.
Merry Christmas
