Is Vetrimycin 200 ( LA 200) safe for Pregnant Cows

That question causes flash backs. Helping a neighbor, LA200, a pregnant cow and a suicide head gate with no latch to hold it shut. The 2cc he decided was safe to give her could have been squirted on her as she ran by for all the good it done.

LA300 probably causes more tissue damage. Cattle I have administered LA200 to get really restless in the chute about 10 seconds after giving it -- I suspect it stings quite a bit. Not my antibiotic of choice, but for a few things like footrot it generally works ok.

Yes, we’ve treated bred cows with LA 200 and LA 300 with no issues.
A while back LA 300 was not available and our vet had the Vetrimycin 200, He said it was not likely to cause the knots at the injection sites like the LA 300. He recommended 7cc per 100#.
