This cow has a two week old calf.
Is this normal?
What is it?

infection. treat with penicillin. dont expect her to breed back right away.
 
Got meds from vet and administered.

This is not the cow due to calf.
She had her calf two weeks ago.
 
what did your vet recommend that you give for this?

It's a uterine infection, dj. Could be caused by any number of things. Might be caused by retained afterbirth (doesn't have to be a lot) or if it was a big calf and had to be pulled or someone had to sleeve up and reach inside; I've known that to create problems before.

If the LA200 doesn't work switch to 30-60cc's of long lasting pennicillin. I haven't had a lot of success with LA200 (for uterine infections), but I've seen penn cure cows that by all rights should have died.

i was expecting an answer of penicillin, but was just curious.
