You really have to ask if it will be an export requirement.
Also, does anyone know if a clear standard has emerged? I won't touch it until I'm sure whatever I use is compliant.

At 6 bucks cwt for a 3 buck tag, who cares if it's compliant. If the buyers will pay it why leave the money on the table.

Because the equipment to use RFID may be wasted money. Someone will want to read the tag and load it to a database and that needs a format of some kind.

Put it this way, what kinda information SHOULD be in the RFID tag? Just a number?

Seems like that's a problem for the feedlot to address, not the producer. Ours has the number which can be checked against the state records for age/source verfication.
If it's a significant problem for the feeder they'll put their own RFID tag in their ears and cut out the state tag. Theirs probably don;t cost them 3 bucks apiece. If they didn;t feel it was worth it they wouldn;t pay the extra. Feeders aren;t in thre habit of wasting money by paying more for something then the absolutely have to.

I don't use stae tags like Dun
I use a tag from the company I use for Age and source verification and my tags are less than $3 dollars
so I guess if it was a problem with the feedlots they would specify which tag they wanted us to use
I have NO RFID equipment other than the tagger to put them ($25 I think)in with so I don't think the investment on my end is cost prohibitive
