New sale catalog features a steer (frame 5) 1235# live weight, yield grade 1, high choice quality, 0.4 fat, REA 18.

All of their reference sires were in positive territory for marbling, and all but two of their AI sires were.

What do you think of Golden Achiever 2072? He is a grandson of King Ten. Another King Ten grandson is L3 Genetic King 169.

L3 Desert Edge 886 is a powerfully muscled bull.

I like both of those bulls. I would suspect that many on here would say that the Desert Edge bull doesn't have enough depth. However, I have been asked to evaluate the Largent sale bulls and I was in no way impressed with them. There were many cases in which I would have to witness them firsthand to determine if a large portion had twisted testicles or not. Poor toplines, weak muscle and overall little appeal would make me stay away from those cattle. One of the members on here steered clear of those cattle and bought a very nice looking coming 2 year old at a very affordable price from Churchill, whom I think are making bigger strides in the carcass side (if I cared) than Largents are....and still maintaining an eye appealing animal while doing it. :cowboy:

As far as phenotype goes, judge for yourself, he's a Largent bull:

I wouldn't exactly call him a gutless wonder.

I always have to look TOO hard at Largent's pedigrees to find the ones I'd be interested in. Too much Titan 23D lurking in the background for me. But, for me, once in a pedigree is too much for me to be interested.

I really like the bull pictured above, and several of their herd sires and reference sires. However, I will agree that there wasn't much in the catalog that did anything for me. There did seem to be a real problem among the toplines, and there weren't that many with much rear or depth IMO. Some of the heifers were nice, and the one out of the Oxley Christi cow and Rambo should be a genetic package for sure.

I'm just looking at the carcass side of things, and I'd say if you were selling to CHB or CAB one of their bulls might work well enough.
