Have been wanting to rent a bull to bred my 15 cows haven't had any luck . I have a nephew that has a year old black angus bull that he is willing to let me use, but thinks it might be best to wait tell he is about 14 months old .Just wanted your thoughts

He could do the job now but waiting a few more months would help.
 
The old rule of thumb on the English breeds Angus, Hereford or Shorthorn at a year they could handle 12 cows.
Add a cow per month of age until he is 30 months.
He is not to young but do like GB said and have him tested.
If he comes back cold don't get upset turn him in with the cows and retest in a month.
I have known of vets that screwed up the test as well as the young bulls needed a little practice to get hot.
