Stumbled across this. Found it very interesting and extremely informative on how we've arrived at our war on drugs and history of narcotics in the US among other lessons.

I enjoy reading about history from people who can keep it lively, this guy is one. I bet he was a great professor.

Very interesting morphine starts out as the wax from an opium poppy and in the time of the civil war with sailing ships only it would take a long time for it to reach America.

I've only read part of it, but it does sound interesting.. and not a bit surprising to me either.
