This calf will have simbra influence and out of this heifers father we get red/black brindles, although none this year. Its been a while since we've had one this color, but its a light red/grey brindle although hard to see in picture. Until we got this heifer in the chute, i though she was just dirty..lol Found her yesterday with a hurt foot. I'm hoping its something that will fix itself. But luckily she's easy to pick out.

Half my herd is that colour - char X/gelbview and red angus bases.

Also found a small stone lodged in a cows hoof last week, she walked like she broke her leg. Pulled the stone and she was right back to normal.

Most everything we have is black, so i enjoy some color now. We had some old cows this color when we had more simbra in the herd.. This had to come from the deeps of the gene pool..
Amazing you're getting light red/grey brindles out of something with no brahman mixed in...

Please post a good picture of their coats, i'd love to see it...Digging through pictures, i know i have one old cow we sold a few years ago with this pattern. She had black dotted around in it too.. She was a 1995ish model when we had more simbra in the herd........
I'm going to guess either this calf was stepped on or stepped on a thorn or has a cracked hoof......we have no rocks in our area, but that would be the best affliction out of the bunch..

Unless I'm missing something on my monitor - she's just a slightly reddish version of a tan heifer. I can get pics of that if you want?

edit - reading these brindle comments now, No mine aren't brindle. and its not showing up on my screen.

I was wondering if you werent seeing the brindles, thats why i mentioned brindle. I've only seen this color a few times anywhere..... In the crosses you listed, i wouldnt think you could get a brindle out of them but i've never owned a couple you mentioned so i took you for your word.

The gray she mentioned is there, just very subtle at this time.

The brindled crosses I saw usually has jersey in the mix, tho my neighbor has a Normande x red Angus cow and she was black brindled.
