Finally getting things mowed. Does anyone else mow from the inside out? If you have a big open unobstructed field, finding the middle and working your way around and around outwards. Did this field this way and it was fun. Took 3 hours....not sure how many acres... Had to go 4 mpr due to pig ruts, some areas 2 mpr

Not sure what is meant by, 'lay off land'....

I got out early and cut a bit. Hit some BIG pig ruts out of the blue, they are covered in thick grass and are old so very very hard to see. The tractor rocked so hard to the left, it jarred the heck out of me. As it did that, news was about to come onto the radio station. Then i heard a station check beep thing, you know, if this is followed by a message kind of think. I got past the ruts and there was talking...got past some wet spots, turned up the radio where it was still talk. Sounded like weather but it was all garbled. Didnt have on glasses so i couldnt see the radio station it was on, so i pushed the tune button, got more talking, pushed again, still the same...Spazed out thinking the world was coming to an end. Called husband, didnt answer, called daughter and her TV wasnt on. She finally got it to a news station and she said everything looked fine. What had happened, hit the ruts hard, hit my head on the radio and changed it to the weather station button. Didnt know it had a weather station button..lol...didnt know i hit my head...

It's where you pick up all of the land, and then lay it in one big pile.

I'm guessing, you plot it out?

When Plowing land with a conventional bottom plow It will only turn the dirt one direction therefore you find your starting point and travel to the other end then you skip over a specific distance to return on. You lay out the land so to minimize the furrows. It also helps with equipment because your not making sharp turns. The only plot I know is a hound .

If inside out is what I think it is yes. Prefer it that way. I like to out line the property with two or three passes then work inside out. Following the contour from out side in can be inefficient and it drives me crazy making all the turns. :) Do my lawn the same way.

So you shred as if you're pulling a plow?

I hate going around things and by the time you're in a smaller area you're having to turn too much. I hate triangles too..lol they drive me batty..

I do the same.. outline it, then make it where I dont have to make so many turns..or go in a circle..

When I bushhog yes I do it the same way. Growing up I broke nearly all the land every year close to a thousand acres ( Hobby Farm) and we didn't have gps back then
I like to mow straight lines and cut the ends last. Cutting while turning does not give me the results I want.

The only thing I shred is a half pipe

I can turn on a dime now in the tractor i'm in with my 20 ft shredder, but those darn triangles, i'll get it one way, turn around and miss i corner.. I tell myself, just leave it, but i cant. It will bug the crap out of me..

when i shredd i just follow the layout of the pasture im shredding.i never have sectioed anything off to shredd.

We have lots of big trees dotted around most of our pastures. The ones near the fence or the clumps that cut up a pasture, i'll section it off. Did a smooth flat open square pasture the other day and just went around the outside and kept going. If there are no obstructions, i dont break up, but if i'm going to have so many turns, i section..
Texting and mowing results in fishbones....oops
