Insecticide rotation

I am unsure what to use for fly control this year. Before 2008 I was rotating, Co Ral dust one year and Python dust the next, and in the summer of 2008, they just quit working. I purchased a bottle of Ultra Sabre pour on, and it was really amazing, even the face flies were gone for the first 2 weeks after the application. I used it twice in 2008, and since I only have a few cows and had over 1/2 bottle left, I used it last year also. It was very effective, but not like the first year. I love the pour on, but all the ones I can find are permethrin. Is there someone out there knowledgeable in the rotation of insecticides that could suggest what I should use this year?

My vet rotates the wormer/pour on each year - one year it is Ivomec (2 applications, 1 each May and Nov), the next year it is Cydectin. The system seems to work well. For fly control I have been using a diesel/permectrin mix on the rubs for 3 years now with still excellent results. I have looked but don't see anything else that seems to work as well. I think the key is to keep the rubs charged so there is enough permectrin in them to avoid building up resistant strains. The www.pjwhite.com website (people that make the rubs) may have some other fly mix suggestions. Jim

We've used the permethrin diesel mix for ten years and I haven;t seen any loss of effectiveness. But that is just one arrow in the fly control quiver.

Can you suggest other "arrows" in the fly control quiver? Also, since I have been using a pyrethroid pour on (insecticide, not wormer) for the last two years, should I use an insecticide on the cattle rub that is not permethrin the first year? I went to the website, it's great, and two of you back up their brags, that's pretty good advertising.
