A few weeks ago I noticed my pump leaking on my 240 massey, pretty steady drip while running. The tractor is basically used for raking and utility stuff. I haven't isolated the leak, but pretty sure its not a line. Any input?

It probably has a CAV pump and needs a new seal kit. They are pretty easy to put in as usually they leak around the kill, throttler lever or the top cap.

Here is probably all you will need....One trick to putting them in is after removing the top cover push the kill, throttler rods down in instead of trying to unhook the spring underneath. I learned the hard way on my first one as the spring fell down into the pump. I had to engineer a magnet on a wire to fish it out without having to take the pump off the tractor.

Make sure this is the right kit before you order as yours may be different.

What JL said..
I'd just take the pump off and take it completely apart and do the whole works, the input shaft seal can leak diesel into the crankcase too with age.. If you just want to get the leak to stop it's a couple O rings, something like 3/8th OD and 1/16th thick, that should be available at any parts store, top cover gasket? well, you might be able to get it off intact
A big PITA with Massey fuel systems are the rubber grommets on the lines.. I fight with those all the time.. fight to get them on, fight to get them off, I've made them out of some rubber tubing too since I ran out of new ones

I've done several now, parts washer, clean workbench, take pictures (there are youtube videos too, seach for CAV delphi DPA pump rebuild).. it's not rocket science.

Here's a complete kit for less money

Here's a before and after of a MF255 pump.. About the only thing you have to watch out for is the governor spring hole location, which are tractor model specific, (I think it can be decoded from the model number though if you mess up)

Good deal on the kit Nesikep....Injection pump rebuilding is big business as the new low surfer diesel has caused a lot of it. THe pump rebuilding businesses will rob you too. I use lub every time I fill up a diesel and change the filters often and drain water/mositure if needed.

old pumps are pretty tolerant though.. they don't run at the extreme pressures the new ones do so the clearances don't have to be so tight

The pressures that these new pumps are running at are un believable. The Bosh CP4 runs up to 40,000psi. The max pressure for a 44 mag. Is 35,000 psi. No wonder these new pumps are so dang expensive.

Well, finally got around tuit, and everything went well, except the gasket, fixed that and got the cutoff slide in the wrong position. Fixed that, and somehow lost the dang throttle rod clip! Baling wire for now.Or another 6 months whichever comes first.
