infection?

i have a female calf that i have been treating for navel infection for 8 days, but the it still seems to have a hard big lump under its belly (the lump is bigger is 3 times bigger than my thumb), the weird thing is that the legs don't seem to be swollen and the calf walks fine. what could be the problem? could it be a different problem than navel infection?

It could be that the infection has walled itself off.

If it is an abscess and its not that big you can sometimes just make a small drain hole and be done.
If you are not sure its an abscess you can aspirate it with a big needle and little syringe syringe-

Are you sure its not a hernia?

If it is a hernia it wouldn't be hard and you can push it up into the body cavity.
