I can not get grass cattle to consume any where near the recomended amount of "Pasture Gainers" free choice mineral mix. If the mix gets wet they will consume even less. I assumed the Bovatec had a bad taste and mixed in some additional salt. That improved things but the mixing is a pain. Any suggestions on a better approach or product?

Who makes "Pasture Gainers"? I have never had the problem of them not consuming enough of their mineral unless I have added too much salt. They usually know what their body needs and consume close to the correct amount when I mix in a bit of salt. I would maybe be concerned with them going on and off of a mineral with Bovatec or Rumensin in it. When I would feed the calves in the lot I would order bulk mineral to mix with the feed ration, and the feed guy brought out a few #50 bags incase I ran out before he got here. He said it was bad for them to be on then off, and to give them 1/3 at least, just to keep them on it? If you want the ionosphere, and easy there is the Crystyl Lyx tub called iono-lyx. Cost effective, I don't know. But I have almost always had proper consumption of crystyl lyx.
