Cross_7 is looking for someone to be a caretaker. Room and board is included plus theres some pay as a kicker. Might be a good place to write a book.

Shallowater is pretty much part of Lubbock now, so not the same small town you knew.
But everything else is exactly like you remember ;-) , except there are lots more city type folks
I can't think of a single reason a person would settle up on the caprock unless they wanted to farm cotton
If I were looking for quality of life and just wanted the small town feel, I'd look at Abilene east, west of the metroplex

lol i want to be in between those towns.. my kids have family in lubbock and i have real friends in the denton/dallas area..also in lindale :) so i want to be centrally located IF possible.. i want OUT of this city crap...

we used to take trips to Brady to see relatives and also Copperas Cove..( probably misspelled that :() I know Marble Falls is beautiful area, but more than my wallet lol .. kids have family there all over Texas.. i think thats what they need.. a connection to their dad...

I have an uncle that threw his hands in the air, sold his house, farm, all his equipment and etc and bought a house on Brownwood lake.
That was 30 years ago and he said that was the best decision he ever made

Not sure I'd get to close to Denton as it seems to expand every time i get out that way. But in the smaller towns finding a job might prove difficult. Wichita Falls might be an area to look at.

Thanks .i talked to my son.. who immediately insisted he wasnt going and i informed him that i am the parent and he and his sister would go where i say.. his argument was we just moved here and he just got settled into his new school and didnt want to start all over again... i dont blame him ..but i also told him if he wants to stay here then he has to help with his sister... so now I am back to square one :( I know Wichita Falls area.. i have been to more places in Texas than i ever did in Florida and I was born and raised here.. I blame Mickey ..all his fault.. I'm still going to keep looking.. as far as job goes.. i have lots of skills and experience doing a variety of jobs.. :) big hugs

Since when do kids make those calls? Either you weren't serious and wasted people's time or you need to put your foot on your kids head. :tiphat:

i do make the decisions in my house ... but i'm having serious problems with my daughter right now.. and being all by myself in this ..no friends,no family, i need to put daughter first. Son raised valid points in his argument. and FYI i am serious about this..have been looking on my own based off what was said here..just haven't replied. The whole world is crashing down around me right now. So i'm stepping back for a bit..

Check out central Texas. Well located and no more than an hour and half from DFW, Austin, and many other places. Not overly expensive either.

i was looking in the east texas area..thats where i used to live.. in tyler and then red springs... but would rather b around lake palistine or quitman ..saw a place in gun barrel city that looked perfect :) nice 3 bed 2 bath trailer on a cpl acres... I am leaving all of this in Gods hands.. He knows i am stressed to my limits and He also knows my needs... He helped me before when I knew it was time to leave lubbock for good and He helped me get away. I was able to buy an old chevy van and used that to leave my kids dad..all because God worked a miracle in my life.. I believe God has a plan for me and the more plans I make on my own will fail, unless its part of HIS plan for me. I need God more than anything right now folks.. I dont know whether to wind my ass or scratch my clock right now.. and until i get my head back on straight.. i'm gonna keep looking and thinking about what is best for me n the kids.. And pray God shows me the path we must take.. I dont go to church..but i do believe in God and that He rules over all things.. my church is nature... when I need to be closer to God I go fishing..so guess what i'm doing in the morning? going fishing...

I think I would stay away from the lake area around Gun Barrel City I had 2 sisters live there several yrs ago and while visiting my nephew a couple months ago who lives in Kemp I went and drove around the places where my sisters used to live
It was depressing every place I went by was junky and looked like a bunch of meth heads lived there
I asked my nephew about it and he said that was exactly what was there now meth heads and thieves

San Angelo. Small city with small town feel. If a hurricane or forest fire takes my place, I'm headed back there.
I have heard of it :) I just looked up your city....I'm so sorry lol if you need a knife to cut thru the humidity let me know, I spent a month in Sugar Land and altho nice place, the humidity about killed me. I was right up the street from the Imperial sugar factory :) Looked up San Angelo, this is what I found: San Angelo
City in Texas
San Angelo is a city in the state of Texas and the county seat of Tom Green County in West Central Texas. Wikipedia
Area: 58.2 sq miles (150.7 km²)
Weather: 39°F (4°C), Wind W at 0 mph (0 km/h), 67% Humidity
Population: 95,887 (2012) * thats about the same size as Lakeland, Florida :( Bartow has less than 18,000 and thats getting on my nerves lol.
Local time: Tuesday 2:31 AM
Unemployment rate: 5.1% (Aug 2013)
Now if I could use that as the town I'd go to when supplies are needed .. that'd be cool .I never made it that far .. I was on the East side before.. in Burnet again for about a month... i have visited a lot of places in Texas and found I prefer outside of most of them :) towns like Brady..smallest town I ever stayed in.. back then ..they rolled up and closed everything down at 9pm. What about Ballinger? super big hugs
