Spent a semi-rainy week on the Gulf. It was cloudy most of the time, rained like thunder on the 4th and finally had a good couple of days before we left. Even with the rain, it was really really fun living on the beach and we want to do it again next year. I am three shades of red, and I did manage to avoid any accidents of an alcohol related nature. Played lots of skip-bo and Scene It, ate lots of shrimp, red snapper, steaks... We pretty much just sat around eating. Our friends joined us for a few and then my step daughter, boyfriend and other friend came to join us. Boyfriend had never been to the ocean before so it was a trip for him. Flew kites, built sand castles, went surfing. It was great. Friendly folks, good neighbors. Real family stuff.

If you haven't done it, I recommend it. Rent a house on the beach, load up everything and go. Even when it rains it's fun.

Got back, pump on the swimming pool went out and now our's looks like Brown Mule's. We have another one on order. Grass grew a foot. Pasture, too. I left a 19 year old at home and he didn't destroy the house or let the animals die, so he did good.

Good times. It is good to be back home, except for the pool.

Did you find your glasses?
Did you lose any articles of clothing at an inconvenient time?

No idea what you are talking about re: skip bo and scene it.
I do know what a kite is. Would like to do that myself. Been a very long time.

Sounds like a great trip. But I'll bet you're glad to be home. Welcome back.

No, I didn't find my glasses. Yes, I did lose my cap in the same darned ocean. Skip-Bo is a card game, very fun, and Scene-It? is a DVD game where you answer questions about TV or movies. Yes, flying a kite is a balm for the soul. We bought two and only flew two days because we either had too much or not enough, wind. We all took turns. Everyone wanted to do it.

Yes, Frankie, I am glad to be home. We tried real hard not to worry about things, but it is hard sometimes. We never took trips when I was a kid because Dad never liked to be away from the place for more than two days. Something was either calving, breeding, growing, being harvested or needed feeding. It was just him and he worked hard. My husband is the same way. He takes two weeks off every year when the plant closes, but other than that, he won't take off any other time of the year. He thinks he has to be there when the plant is running.

I have been pulling weeds and plowing up the garden. Rain drowned it.

Forgot to mention, Frankie, the Step-Daughter's BF is an Okie. Sweet as a butter bean, country as fried okra, he's a keeper for sure.

What part of the Gulf coast? We went to Padre last month.. it was okay, but WAY too commerical for me. I'd like to try Aransas Pass next time.

Glad you had a nice trip. And didn't lose any more clothing than you did.

Personally I can't stand the beach. Too many people and it bores me. But my all time biggest gripe with the beach is the folks who wear thongs that shouldn't be wearing thongs! :o

Surfside Village. Near Lake Jackson. No commercialization at all. It is still very laid back and sleepy. I don't like Galveston or Padre or Corpus for that reason, either. You can still see acutal beach bums there. I know we did.

Bored at the beach? That is the whole point, I think.

Our pump is still in California but hopefully it will arrive by Thursday. We shocked the crap out of it and killed the algae. I can't wait to get the pump going. It has been so humid here that a swim is in order.

I dreamed that a fish had moved into the pool and all you could see was the fins when he would surface through the green slime.
