Thanks to all that inquired concerning our weather event. All is well other then the damage to the trees/fences

These pics will give a general idea of the damage. Every tree, both those around the house and those out in the woods and pasture had varying degrees of damage. Most of them either lost major limbs or the tops broke out, some did both, there are also those that uprooted from the weight of the ice.

Welcome back Dun! Glad all is better there now. Ice is never a good thing for driving, trees, or walking on. Hopefully thats the last ice (of that magnitude) any of us will see for this winter.

The bright side is you know where to get yourself some firewood.

Welcome back Dun. You were missed.

Glad to have you back. Were you without electricity all that time? What did you use for heat? We have all been wondering how you were handling the situation.

I really like that pic of the net wire fence. It is just amazing to me how ice layers on things like grass and it's still standing. Our place looked a lot like those pictures too, but we didn't have as much tree damage. BTW - does an electric fence still work if it's covered in a layer of ice? Ours had about a 1/2 inch diameter of ice covering it and I was too scared it would shock me even worse then normal w/ all the moisture so I didn't touch it

Don;t know if electric fence works or not. Ours was off because of no elctric and most of it was on the ground buried in the ice and under downed trees anyway. I just closed all of the outside gates and let the cows go wherever they wanted.

Ours was working during the recent ice storm if the blinking light on the charger means anything. I wondered the same thing. Didn't have the tester and sure didn't have the nerve to grab a hold of it.

Glad to see that you can repair the damage and everyone os OK.
Up here we need to remove all the pine that comes down..cows get to liking the taste and causes abortion. Thankfully we usually get our ice storms in the spring...rain on top of snow today tonite will be fun.
Best wishes for a easy clean up....Sue & Dave Mc

The place just isn't the same without you. When can I expect to see you on the national news talking about how the government is screwing you? Do you have a good spot for the new doublewide that FEMA is bringing?? Boone
