. . . of the Triple Crown, and retired for good, per very recent news blurb. Darn it! :frowns:
His owner pulled out 2 weeks ago . Said it was time for a triple crown winner . Looks like he shoulda stayed inAlan":utqi506r said:Bodie Meister ? AWOL?

A living KD and Preakness winner will command 100% more stud fees than a horse that goes down and has to be destroyed at the Belmont.john250":1gdiai7o said:I thought these guys were GAMBLERS, guess I was wrong.
A triple crown winner would command a much higher stud fee than an "almost" triple crown winner. Todays earning (fees) are too good to pass up, I guess. They can go sit over with the 0.005% bonds crowd. Enjoy the sobriety over there. I hope their trophy wives leave them for shoe salesmen.

Absolutely, John! But if they ran I'LL HAVE ANOTHER at Belmont, and he broke down with something busted because he has a leg problem (and he does have a leg problem) . . . . -0- stud fees. I don't think there's another living stallion out there right now that can claim those first 2 wins of the Triple Crown -- I could be wrong about that. ??john250":11p07eix said:Kathie in Thorp":11p07eix said:A living KD and Preakness winner will command 100% more stud fees than a horse that goes down and has to be destroyed at the Belmont.john250":11p07eix said:I thought these guys were GAMBLERS, guess I was wrong.

Triple Crown Winner would be LOTS more than that.

Owners and trainers are gamblers. You could go to Farm Bureau meetings for a lifetime and never see a pinky ring. Go to the track and you'll see a dozen before the first race. I don't understand why they don't take the chance, unless the horse is already unsound. He may go down, but heck, you may get hit by a bus on the way to the race. It just sounds like they have a payment coming due and can't really take a chance unless they want their pinky rings repossed by a very large man in a dark suit.
John, the KD/Preakness winner IS unsound! That's why they pulled him for Belmont. Here's a link: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/06/08/2840175/ill-have-another-is-retired-on.htmlunless the horse is already unsound

We may never know, John. ???? Just going with the reason trainer and owner gave.john250":26blfcnf said:The horse has tendonitis, according to that Miami story Kathy linked. If he scratched for tendonitis, OK. If he scratched because the owners won/ Don't want the risk, OK. Truth is a commodity is short supply around the track.
