ive sat here an read alot about butcher weights.i know with herefod an angus its 1000 to 1200lbs.depending on the frame an streach of ribb an body.getting to butcher weight at 14 to 16 months.scott
 
The ideal weight will vary with what you are trying to achieve. If you want your mature cow weight to be around 1100 lbs, then that is about where your fat cattle will kill at. I personally want all of my kill weights to be around 1350 lbs. I have Red Angus and we are reaching this weight at 12-13 month of age. If you use a grid, you really don't want them any bigger than 1399 lbs because you will then start to get docked for heavies.
