I wonder what the New Year will bring

Auctioneer friend here says he does not see any price drop anytime soon... even with all the uncertainties.... there are just not enough cows around...
Breds brought in the mid and upper 3,000's last Tuesday night...
A group of 380 steers brought $4 yesterday... Heifers were in the upper $2's to mid $3's ..... nearly what we got for steers last spring...

The future may even give a know nothing, hobbling fool a chance at being paid for all his painful efforts (learning moments) toward being an owner of some very large animals and build the place that we want to be.
What a ride it's been so far. Like stated somewhere else on the forum,
"Everyone is jealous of what you have, but not how you did it"

Son and I were discussing the same thing @chevytaHOE5674 .... the prices we are getting are good... but we have been making do and getting by for so long with "substandard" prices, that now what we are getting seems like a lot.... but they really are basically getting caught up to what the inflation and constant increases of prices, have been for so long.

@cowman82 ... congrats.... beyond expectations I am sure and unweaned no less... That is wonderful for you. Steers and heifers? We got 1470 for 12 heifers, , @620 lbs, weaned, just a couple weeks ago...not junk but not the better ones... have about 40+ to pull on cows to be preg checked coming off pasture, weigh in the 4-6 range I guess... Prices here were up again on Friday... some steers hit $4 here ... many in the $3's.....

thank you. bull calves and heifers, probably a good 50/50 mix of both. was so busy here recently I didn't even get any work done on this group.

Had a steer in my little group we are holding that jumped a fence twice on me. Loaded him up and hauled him 2 weeks ago. The sale was already going but it was the only one I could catch that week so I dumped him off and kept going He was 620 and brought $15xx.xx.
this group I sent in was so calm and good. but had 1 bull calf in there that was a nut. of course he had to keep turning them out of the semi over and over. trying to jump and ramming into everything. came at me a few times. i just built a new corral and he tested every inch of it.
