Last time for years, I hope. Last night we cooked a whole chicken with tators and corn, about half the chicken left over. I decided to do chicken burritos with left overs, so at about 4pm I decided to start dinner ...... My wife had given the left over chicken to the dogs!!!.... Ah.... Well ..... That's great honey .... Love you.... Oh no dinner so grab something in town. I had to be in town anyway (another post soon to come), so decided on something I hadn't had in years, a Big Mac with fries and a McChicken sandwich. Big Mac meal, $6.30,   I just left the drive up speaker, when I got the window to pay, the youngster said "$15.30 please", I informed her it must be the truck behind me and that McDonalds lost me forever by charging $6.30 for a big Mac and fries ...... Yup, I got the "who give a sh....t" look from her and she turned away. I ended up at taco bell which I know I'll pay for at 3:00 am. Just to complete the picture, our town offers a mcDonalds, which I'm done with, a taco bell, and two pizza joints, which taste like card board. Don't give the dogs left overs for at least 48 hrs!!!

Not going to hijack my own thread this early, I do have a thought about longhorn, but $6.30 for a shyt burger and fries, it should be what it was a few years ago $3.00 or so..... It a massed produced gut bomb made by monkeys!

Alan they had a local county fair here took the kids and wife we spent well over 150 bucks on foot. When I was a poor high school part time house framer making 7 bucks an hour in high school 96-98 I would take 10 bucks to taco bell and eat like a king. Now that 10 bucks will get me a drink a regular taco and a Mexican pizza and im still hungry. $$ just doesn't go far anymore. I took a customer out to eat a while back his wife and my wife to a fondue restaurant and im embarrassed to say how much everything was but I will tell you this the pieces of cake we had for dessert was 11 bucks each.

You have to pay for that high priced beef you're selling!

Sky, that customer had better have been a good one!

If he wasn't a good one he would have been eating off the dollar menu at McDonalds :lol2:

What the heck is fondue????

Alan, my Whataburger #1 (large size the drink and fries) costs me about $8.
I could eat it 6 days/week and not get tired of it, and consider it a bargain.

Yup and the 6.30 doesn't even account for the Rolaids (or eventual heart surgery
I like to throw together a burrito now and again, and never have chicken left-overs when I need it. My solution is to always have a few big cans of boned chicken in the doomsday pantry. You can get it at the grocery, or Costco, Walmart or Sams Club if you have one. Makes good chili, chicken and noodles etc. A bit pricier than baking a whole chicken but handy in a pinch.

I found I get way more for my money at an asian restaurant. I love vietnamese noodle soup (Pho), and depending on the place, it gets on your table faster than McD's, is better for you, tastes better, and doesn't have those "side effects".. Oh, and I've eaten well for $10, the tea is free, and I like it from most places

Sky, you must of been walking in high cotton, $10 on a single meal?! I could eat all week at Taco Mayo for $10. They had 25 or 30 cent tacos.

Do you still eat Bell? It ain't what it used to be. We stopped there about 6 months ago and I just went hungry. Yuck!

You shoulda went to the Longhorn and had one of those high $$ steaks so many are complaining about...........

The only good place to eat here is "The Ole Barn". An ole barn out in the county by the side of US 62 that has been converted and remodeled into a place to eat. Two robust middle aged women stand behind a bar among a selection of cooking equipment. You walk in, sit down and they yell across the bar, "What do you want, honey." The customer looks up at a brief menu and yells back, "I'll have the tenderloin sandwich." They yell back, "What do you want on it, sweetie."

My favorite meal there is breakfast. It is only 3 miles from the farm. So I can go check the farm, do a few chores and run over there and eat. My cousin came over a week ago and I gave recommendations to eat there. He said it was excellent. He told them he was from Indiana. They ask him a dozen questions wondering why he was there. He said, "my cousin has a farm on Crockett Lane." They told my cousin to tell "that sweet man to come back in, they miss me."

Soooooooooooooo--again, what the devil is fondue?

It's an ill conceived idea to make dinner more sociable.

And since they provide you with a hot pot of oil, or cheese or whatever for you to cook your own supper, they charge accordingly for such novelty. It seems to be favored by the prettier sex, well, at least some.

So there is another old geezer that has a farm on that road?

Fondue is basically anything hot that comes out in this bowl that is hot and you dip your foods in example we had cheese and chocolate.

Fast food workers are having a sit in today, for higher wages I think $15 an hour, if that passes what will a burger cost, the first McDonals burger I bought was .25 back in the 1965 ,the good old days.

Yes sir. Whenever I spent 10 bucks I normally fed my best friend too or if I wanted a buffet of Mexican I'd eat it all to myself. You are correct it doesn't taste the se at all. I rarely go there anymore seems tb is another loss to quantity not quality. Restaurants now want the most $ for a pitiful small ugly slapped together meal. Sad
