I think this is my last Durham Red/ Red Angus question?

Most of his accuracies are pretty high so his EPD's shouldn't change much. He is not known for calving ease; a negative CETM makes me shy away. I worry about small pelvis sizes. He is advertised as a cow maker but I would be careful who you use him on. Pictures of his heifers have been good. Haven't seen any in person. The only way he will make it onto our place is if I buy a heifer of his with a measured pelvic width. I can't babysit my girls too much.

No, Norseman King is below average for both CED and CETM.

Santas and Duhram Reds I don't have a good answer for you on the Capstone animals keeping condition, we will have our first Capstone heifer calving this spring. As easy as they put flesh on from birth to yearling I'm not to worried about them putting condition back on in the fall, but I don't know how much condition they will loose raising a calf. We will also have our first heifer calving out of Feddes Norse R60, a Norsman King son, this spring. She measured 132cm pelvic at yealing weight of 892lb. She is the lightest of our 2007 replacements. For referance our 2007 replacements ranged from 133-169 pelvis and 892-1157lb at yearling weight. The one Capstone heifer that will calve this fall measured 144cm and weight in a t 1036lb. Hope this helps

I just looked at some of the ultrasound data on the capstone progeny (the bull calf mates). They seemed to have smaller ribeyes and lots of rib fat compared to the others. Their ADG was also less. Sometimes I hate all the tools that are available. They sure don't always make decision making any easier.

Capstone is light on REA epd but measured 14.7 REA ????? and is high on marbling epd. Keep in mind only half the siblings data come from the bull. Our top gaining calves this year are Capstone daughters, of course these are replacements that we feel are our best quality animals so it's not a fair comparison among the rest of the calves. I think he will put some milk and marbling in your herd the result is the 10ME epd but used on moderate performing cows I would think he would improve production through the daughters.
