Looking for the pond pictures I came across Blackie. Sold her a couple of years ago because she stayed open. She weighed a few pounds shy of 2000.

She weighed in at the stockyards at about 1920 if I remember right. Her girth is where it comes from. This girl really has a gut. Here is another picture with me to give you some reference. I am just under 6 foot.

Big as a hippo yet you've got her head stuffed in a feed bucket.

Hmmmmmm....methinks there might be a connection here.

Here is the cow that I thought would be bigger than Blackie. This is Big Bertha. She is longer and taller. The tallest cow I have owned. When I sold her last year in my efforts to moderate the size of cows in my herd, I thought she would out do Blackie. I was surprised when her weight came in at 1780.

Depth and thickness is where the black cow outweighs the black baldie. I saw two polled Hereford cows this spring that I could just see over the top of their backs and I'm 5'10". The biggest pair I've seen in several years and the third wasn't far behind the other two. I believe all 3 were Remittal bred. Good cows but too big for our cake/grass type of operation. She does have some many feel will go 1,700 or more. Enjoy seeing the pics of good cattle.

You're right Ron she was big to big for me. Just think if she had an off day what she could have done with all that weight and power. I do bet she raised some bigguns like her too that made you a lot of money. I'm like you I like to be hands on with all my cattle but be careful those are some powerful beasts.

We ate a 4 yr old cow who missed a calf that tipped the scales just a few pounds under 2000...she did it on grass only, never saw a feed bucket. Best meat ever. We are priming Sarah Palsy for the freezer. Shes getting fatter and fatter out there on that wet grass...

I like both of them Inyati. I really liked Big Bertha and I hated to see her go. She looks like one of the Budwiser Clydesdales. So unique in her markings. Very nice cow.
My biggest cow Ida, 2200 didn't calve last spring because Grit went out. So she is having a fall calf this year. I am anxious to see what she has. I would like a heifer, so that means she will have a bull.

I'm scrolling thru the active topics this morning, hoping to find something to start the day off good. I see this thread and think to myself, this should be good :D ..........what a disappointment ;-) Pictures and discussion of cows????
