That is until yesterday.

I was going to use Granddad's old 4' harrow to cut some dirt in order to get some seed in the ground. I went looking for it Sunday and it wasn't on the place. Had been on the aunt's side of the farm since the grandparents passed in the late 80's and had grass and weeds grown up through it. Our best guess is the aunt's boyfriend scrapped it cause no one would have ever known it was there otherwise.

Yesterday I mentioned it at the coffee shop and one of the guys said he had one and would let me borrow if I wanted. We took off to his place and in our discussion I told him I'd rather own it instead of borrowing it. (Of course, I'm thinking it's 4'.) He rubbed his chin a minute and I was expecting something around $300 or higher. He told me to wait and look at it first and when we got there I just about fell on the ground when he said $50. Told him I'd feel bad just paying $50 and told me that's what he wanted. Done deal.

You did good. But I think you have my luck after all. See how quiet it got when you mentioned me :cowboy:

I just figured that it wasn't such a great deal after all, but when you're looking for something and find it that cheap, it's almost like finding a pot of gold. Well, almost.

lavacarancher, it would have been better if it had wheels. The guy told me that he turned the spikes against the frame and slid it to wherever he was going. Since I don't think it will leave our place, that will work fine for me.

oh, does that drag bring back memories. When I was a kid, we always plowed and disked our ground. We pulled a drag just like that behind the disk. When we wanted to go down the road to another farm, I would help my dad load that "darn" thing up on top of the disk, take each section a part and load it up. Worked real good though behind the disk!! Now people like to buy 1 section to drag their driveway or seed in lawns.

When I ran across this one it was also in sections and that's how we loaded it on the flat bed. The guy I bought it from only used one 4' section when he used it. One section was all my granddad had and drug it behind a mule. I didn't realize they had more sections to them until I started looking. Glad I could jog a memory for you, Jenna. Hopefully, a good one.
