the AI route (this year). I have had several conversations with esteemed members of this board, and had a plan all in place.... to get my heifers AI'd. One half to Angus and one half to MG. I had also acquired a lease for a clean-up bull.

Things happen that make you toss plans right out the window... life and circumstances. I am a part-time farmer, so besides the farm, work and family, I have been helping a friend go through a hard-time taking care of a dieing mother.

So, I found myself a herd bull, he will take care of the job at hand without much interference from me ;-) . Picked him up over the weekend. I will post a pic soon. He is purebred, not registered.... owner is lifetime member, just getting on in years and wife has health issues...

Sorry, getting long winded. BTW - He is a MG. I also took a pic of his momma... will post as well. My youngest son (3) has dubbed him "Junior"..

I just wanted to say a BIG "THANK YOU to everyone! Hopefully my plan will work next year, and if so, maybe it will turn out that I have one heck of a clean-up bull on hand.

Its funny how life can get in the way of the best laid plans. It is good to always have a back up plan. ;-)

I know the feeling, the same thing happened to me this past breeding season and all I was able to do was one of my heifers. I was planning to do all mine AI and then things happened to mess up the time available to get the job done.

I am better prepared this year and hope to do all of mine via AI and use my bull for clean up.

The best of plans can be changed and we need to have alternate ones in place.

and so goes LIFE

No, you didn't give up - you made adjustments. Life is what happens when you're making other plans. ;-) A year, or even two, probably isn't going to make that much difference - especially when taken in perspective of the circumstances. ;-) I wish you the very best Michele, and kudos to you for being there for a friend in a very, very difficult situation.

Thats all any one of us would wish in the same situation.

Thanks MSSCAMP... for everything.

PS... keep both barrels loaded for the pics of "Junior"... can't wait to hear the good the bad and the ugly! ;-) I should have them up on Monday.

You're very welcome! If there is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask, ok? :)

Sounds like the backup plan will work.

Looking forward to a pic of the MG bull.

AI can be workin good for some folk. But for others like me, havin a bull around be the only practical way.I be nowhere near in the same league as alot of folk on the board and I couldn't possibly keep it sorted out proper. My old bull eats a bit for sure, but he be takin care of things and I need not worry about details..........george
