Well I have decided to look for a more comfy vehicle for me to run around and do my estimates in my current work truck has 286k miles on it. I want to retire it for farm use. I have been looking at a few vehicles F-150 primarily since im a ford man never owned a chevy but they have some good deals going on now. I like the avalanche chevy makes. Does anyone have an Avalanche? I am leaning very heavily towards one. Does it tow well? I may use it to pull a tractor from time to time or something. I am also looking at the 1500 model chevys as well. I know we have all beat to death for and chevy I really just wonder if anyone has a Avalanche and if they like it or not.

Best vehicle I ever had was a 2003 chevy half ton. Step kids in Houston still have it.

Our neighbor is a contractor that builds specialty houses,.. he had an Avalanche for a long time and liked it. Depending on how you look at it, it's either the best of both worlds, or the worst of them, because it's neither quite a truck, nor quite a car.

I think it would do OK with a light enough trailer to tow a 28hp tractor a few miles., but asking too much of it could get you into trouble

If you've driven fords for years and not chevys you probably won;t like the fell of the chevy. Goes the same for chevy to ford. I drove fords for years and ended up getting a chevy equivilent. Had it for a year and just never felt comfortable driving it. I went with a freind of mine a couple of hundred miles to pick up a couple of cows with his truck and trailer. Part way back he asked if I would mind driving for a while. I hopped behind the wheel and by the time we had pulled off the shoulder and onto the interstate I felt at home. Got rid of the chevy the same day.

I will take that HD that thing is nice.It would be even better tubbed out. with some wide mickey t's

Dun you are probably right. I am leaving in a few to talk to the dealer if he talks right I will take a chance on it. It can always be sold or traded.

I got a '15 Chevy and I love the feel of it. Had a Dodge before that and settled right into the Chevy.

I know what you mean tho. My brother was long time Chevy guy. Got a Ford and hates the "feel".

A lot of it are little things like the wiper controls, turn signals, shifter, etc that you get used to.
When I had Mazda Rx7's, I had many of the '84-85 model years, and then had the later generations, I just never quite felt at home in them.. they handled 'better', but they didn't handle like what I was used to.

I got a new F150 a couple of months ago. Every control is in a dfferent place. But the seats, the steering wheel position, the pedal feel is the same as my old F250 and the Ranger. It sure is a much more confortable ride then those older trucks though. Get's better fuel mileage too.

friends dad has a newer avalanche, they do some small farming and he's towed with it a couple times.. the transmission failed on them..

I have driven an Avalanche once. Nice to drive but we were just going from one place to another -not towing.I would make sure the specs for the axle, transmission, trn case, payload were the same before I chose it over a 1/2 ton for work. And then I'd still wonder but thats just me.

lol looks like no avalanche unless dealer calls back ... I told him what I wanted to pay he said he couldnt live with it and i told him same for me with his price. I am going out in a few to check some other places. Dun when I got in it I couldnt help but think you were right cause it was a different feel.

I would buy the truck I liked best and not get caught up in whats on the tailgate. I have a Tacoma, f-250, and 3500 dmax. I did have a dodge a couple years ago for 6weeks. Everyone is different I just roll with what I like. We have red, green, and blue tractors too.

I consider myself a Chevy guy and have owned two of the 07+ yr model half tons and I would not buy another. Prior to the NNBS are good trucks if you find a clean used one.

I currently drive a 3/4 ton Dodge. I rent a 4x4 F150 Ecoboost from time to time and love it. Great power and ride. My dad has F150 with the 5.0L and it's not quite as peppy as the EB but gets better mpgs.
