Given a 40 acre piece of land already fenced but needs to be planted right would you run x # of momma cows and sell the calves, or put young calves, keep em for 6 months and sell em off?

Right now...at this very time...I would go with the young calves.

Yep.. I would go with the young ones for 6 months, until you can get your pasture planted, and set.

Depends on how much work you want to do and how high your loss tolerance is. If your loss tolerance is low then I'd go with cow/calf but if you have a higher tolerance and your willing to work them a little harder then stockers may be the way to go for you. If you have the $$$ to spend why not try stockers and if you don't like it you can buy momma cows when you sell out hte stockers?
