A while ago someone posted pics of pears just budding wondering what the fruits of the south look like now I grow some apples in the north but they are just the size of nickles now. Cant wait for fresh peaches pears plums to make it this way. The cherries from BC should be starting in a week or two.Got some peaches from costco last week so sour couldnt eat even with sugar molded before ripe. I always jump the gun they should be better later.

I noticed them unloading the peach crates here today. They will probably start harvesting in the next day or two, From what I could see from the road the trees were loaded but that usually means they will be smaller.

Wife bought a half box of peaches last week (about 20-25 lbs.).....they were big and beautiful but cost $25 for the half box. Don't know if that's expensive or not but mercy that first peach pie was wonderful.

bought peaches today from cooper farms in fairfield. The wife is making a cobbler as we talk. Lots of rain and too wet to mow so I am sitting on the porch smoking a cigar and drinking a single malt scotch. LIFE IS GOOD,

Hey Papa...I really appreciate the invitation...nothing better than single malt scotch .... but peach cobbler is a very close second. You can keep the cigar. ;-)

Was wondering if Cooper Farms still set up and sold peaches in your fair city. Seems like they've been doing that for ages...but got great locations so should move a world of them.

Texas Bred Cooper farms has grown. They bought an old service station at exit 98 and sell out of it. They really have great produce. Any time you or anyone else wonders by they are welcome to stop and have a drink whether it is iced tea or something from the old country.

Punt in perspective----------Pound of beef (on the hoof) for a pound of peaches.........

You must be Irish.

Truth be known Mother 1/2 Irish and my Dad 1/2 cherokee Indian.
Does that make me like homemade wine?

The plums finished 3 weeks ago. The peaches (LaFeliciana variety) finished out two weeks ago. I made a heck of a lot of plum jelly and some peach too.

Apricots didn't do so well this year.

My boysenberries were taken out a few years back. Everyone still asks for boysenberry jelly. The store bought variety of boysenberry jelly aint so good. Think I will put some boysenberry trellises in down on the river. They should do great in the sandy loam on the upper flood plain.

Nectarines aren't quite ready yet.

I looked at the two peach trees and they were ready to pick. I figgered I would wait till the week end and pick them. Aparently the squirles had the same ides. By Saturday morning there was not a peach left to pick. I need some more shotgun shells.

How many exit 98's are there in Texas? Just hoping the one you are refering to is close to me - I can almost taste those fresh peaches already!

Fly....the one Mr. Papa was referring to would be on I-45 south of Dallas...runs right thru the town he lives in or near. Cooper farms is a big operaton. They might ship you a crate of them. They're big as softballs. (well nearly :-))

My figs are starting to ripen. I will probably pick about 20 gallons for the season.

Let's see, that ought to put it just North of Conroe !? Why ship them when we drive by that exit ever so often?
