I had several calves born in December, January, and February last year. I have six new calves now from these cows. One that had calf in late February had her calf today. Just wondering if this sounds ok as far as breeding back. Most seem to be having a calf in one month and again the next year in the same month. Please give me your thoughts on how this sounds as far as breedinng back quick enough. Thank you,

if they have calves at the same time each year they are doing a good job in my opinion. a lot of cows will get a month earlier each year if you let them. some cows tend to gestate for shorter periods than others. some gestate longer.

Thank you for replying. My Grandpa says it is good, but I like to ask you all on this message board my questions too. You all seem like you have so much good information to share.

Thats my criteria, spit out a healthy calf every 12 months. 11 months is better but I don't hold em to it.

Most people try to average a calf every 12 months and time it that way by when they put the bull with the cows. I keep the bull with mine all the time and one group that has some jersey blood mixed in calves pretty true at 10 1/2 month intervals
