When first breaking we tie for 30 minutes at the most. Sometimes it may be a few minutes longer if they are throwing a fit. Only becuase we will wait for them to calm down first, then untie them so that it always ends on a good note and they don't dislike it right away. For training them to stand, we usually keep ours tied for 4-6 hours standing. Then the rest of the day they are still tied becuase they are in the cooler.
