I hear it is melting fast! What is it like today up there? I sure would like to spend some time in Co hunting and fishing.........or at least I think I would. I've been along the Arkansas River past the Royal Gorge and would like to spend some more time in that part of the country. I suppose the fishing is tough right now on the rivers but might be great in the lakes.

I live 55 miles west of the Royal Gorge on the Arkansas. This ear has been nuthin special for sure. My son manages the Flyfishing Shop here and he tells me it's been kind of a bust. Little or no Caddis hatch and now the river is blowing out as I write this,if we get the heat we are promised this week it will all be over for 6 to 8 weeks. at least on the river. Our runoff is at least 2 weeks late cuz it's been so cold.

Yup, the rivers are all blown out (or still surrounded by 10' of snow, take your pick)
As far as lakes, depends on what type of fishing you're doing, but I don't think I would recommend a long trip just for the lakes right now. I figure runoff is going to last until mid July this year, and that's only if June actually warms up. Alot of the passes that are open for Memorial Day most years, still have 8-12 feet of snow on them. Trail Ridge, the road thru Rocky Mountain National Park, still has 17' drifts as of last Friday.
