How do you feed mineral free choice for horses? Will the cow mineral feeders work or is there one specially designed for horses? How to keep it from getting wet?

Thanks
Donald

I use a box or corner feeder inside my run ins & stalls. Keeps it out of the weather. If it is outside you might have to be creative with something to protect it from the weather ... maybe a 3 sided box with a top that comes out a ways attatched to a building or tree?? I would place it where it is out of the wind as much as possible. It depends on the cow mineral feeder as horses tend to get hurt on more things then cows.

same here, ceptin I let the horses lick the blocks themselves

Good point, but the molasses flavored is very good  . Guess I thought about the word "use" but forgot to put it in the sentence. So yes my advice is to let your horse lick the block...they get more minerals that way.

Alan isnt the only one that likes the molasses. Just put out a tub of Vit-Ferm protein and mineral and it was gone in week. Feel bad either I am underfeeding them or not enough mineral.
Wondering if they are eating it for the protein and molasses or the mineral.
Is there any special blocks you use for horses? Or just any red ones work as long as it doesnt say not for horses.

Thanks
