I see the classified ads on CT has been shut down due to scammers. What does that do to the no advertising policy?

I was hoping to transition to a successful career as a gigolo by advertising on CT. I guess I'll have to fall back on "tractor driver".
Yea, I was going to get rich on those 300lb steers at 350$ a head. Guess I was a day late :cry2:

I didn't see the ad but at 115 cwt, if they were beef breeds you might have done real well on them

I asked Macon and this is his reply:
Good question. About half the ads were scams or spam. One dumbass claims to have lost $30,000 he wired to a cattle broker.

I wouldn't mind setting up an Ads section here if you can think of somebody to remove the "Work from Home", cow pairs for $800 and Kobota tractors for 1/3 the going rate ads.

Any way to have them (registered) user moderated automatically. Along the lines of XX number of strikes and it's gone?
Or would that still require hands on by a mod?

Are you taking applications? :lol2:

Keeping spam ads off any pure text based forum is a weekly job at best. I used to do it on a military forum. You can look at it one day and it's clean, next morning find a dozen or 2 ads for everything from viagra to hookers to mail order/over-the-internet wives/girlfriends and divorce attorneys. (maybe they were all from the same self fulfilling outfit?) Doesn't take long to clean it, but pretty sure nowadays that bots can mine search the internet, do the registration and implant the ad without much (if any) human help at all. This is why you see the little box on some sites where you have to read and type in the blurry text letters--bots can't do it very easily.
Graphics are a little harder to implant, but probably not much.

Might be a future in that gigolo business. Pimping won't work. Too many of them not charging for it anymore.
