How Close are the Neighbors?

Just had some good news today. I been trying for 5 years to buy a burnt down house across from my driveway that burned down before we moved here due to being a Crank House. And since we moved here they moved back into a travel trailer and got busted again for Cooking the stuff.

Finally today I signed the papers to buy the 4.6 acres. Cost me $6,000.00 best money I have ever spent.

Buying this along with another 5 acres I bought a couple years ago we have secured that we will basically have no neighbors for almost 1 mile in any of the four directions from our house. :)

And Every neighbor I can think of within say two miles are basically the types you wish for as neighbors.

How secluded are you guys? I would love to not have a neighbor for miles but I will have to wait till I win the lottery on that one.

Not as lucky as you. A neighbor's house is visible. I do now have some very good neighbors. That has not always been the case though.

This whole area is bursting at the seams. Farms are all breaking up into subdivisions. Folks from the metro-plex and out of state are flocking in by the droves over the whole county and all surrounding counties.

Depends on what time of year it is, if I can see the neighbors house or not. I can in fall and winter, can't in spring and summer. Mostly good folk, except for when the grandson is over for a visit riding their 4 wheeler.

Have neighbors on both sides within 1/2 mile but can't see either house from my house, thank the good Lord. As a matter of fact can't see any structure except my own barn from my house.

We're close to the road, but you can only see one house from the front porch, and only then when the leaves are off the trees. If two dozen cars went by our house in a day, we'd be wondering what all the traffic was about.

We're out there a little piece.

We have a good mile or two, depending on what direction you go... wish i owned it all but i don't, all will become available in the next 5 years i would imagine..... have to start saving my pennies.... :help: :help:

My closest neighbor is about 1/2 mile down the road. He's an old bachelor and pretty much a hermit. Real quiet, but always there if you need a hand with something. Best kind of neighbor to have.

If you go in our pasture you can see some neighbors because a 40 acre pasture of ours is boarding a 90 acre Hay Field.

We are fortunate because there is a swampy creek bottom across from us joining the 4 acres we are buying. No one could ever build a house there.

We bought this place because of its seclusion. We are only about 4 miles outside of small town, but the way the land around us is, I doubt I will have to worry much about a close neighbor. Hard to find such a private place so close to town.

We have quite a few neighbors along the paved road. Most are good and none are real bad. A select few are extremely helpful since they tend to my business while I just keep an eye on my work. ;-)

umm about 50 feet south 50 feet east 50 west lol only farm in the city have aabout 10 acres with 3 cows

I have read that there are some pretty nasty chemicals used in the production of crstal meth. Might want to take a look around and make sure none were left behind.

Lets put it this way. We rent the pasture next to our house and the landlord likes to shoot his potato gun at us. He gets to within about 200'.

We are at the end of the county road...and we have gates up that show where the end of the county road begins...our farm. We love the seclusion.

Possible problem...the property to the east of us has been bought by a developer. We may plant a lot of blackberry bushes on that fenceline.

We have a neigbor that's about a half mile away on one side (east) and a neighbor less than a quater of a mile away (west). Can't see either of their houses, 'cause therer's plenty of spruce and poplar around enough to give all of us a good sense of seclusion and privacy. And both are real good neighbors, the quiet and MYOB type. Except when there's a power outage along the line.

Besides, it's more secluded around the farm at home than you think!

Exactly my thoughts. A friend of ours in CA had his place fenced off by the state from any access because of the nasty stuff the cookers had just dumped all over the place. It was that or he would have had to pay to have all of the soil removed and hauled to a toxic dump site.

I think it was Champion Paper Co., but one of the big boys had to pay $5 million in cleanup fees in Oregon a few years ago because of a meth lab on their forestland.

That is some interesting things to look into from all three of you guys, thanks for the info. I will have to look into the possible dangers as well as legal issues that might be involved.

On 3 acres, son next door-school across the street ..usually NObody home on weekends..can hear traffic from hwy..

we live at the end of a 1/2 mile one lane dirt road that only we use. grass grows in the middle. like Alice, we have a gate up only to let the county and lost folks know they are at the end of the road. (we finally had a dead end sign put up to keep the lost folks from having to drive backwards to get back to the main road.) closest neighbor is over a mile away and we can only see their Christmas lights reflect off the night sky in the winter. And that's only if we go to the highest place on our property.

One neighbor is really super quite - its a cemetary.

The weird part is someone calls about once a year to see if we want to sell. I have no idea how they found us and our phone number.

To close but they are good people and dont both us.
So I reckon they are the best kind.
Close enough to help and far enough away to not bother me....
