Well hubby got the vapor barrier all hung on the upstairs ceiling. Just need to tape the seams and around the light boxes.
He went in Monday because my order of Roxul insulation was suppose to be in, well part of it was. No idea where the rest of it is right now.
We are putting it between all the wall studding in all the rooms to work as a sound barrier. I've got quite a bit of it put up in the basement. I'm waiting to hear from Home Depot right now but just thinking of heading up and getting as much hung as I can today.

We bought a 1965 bucket truck too. Hubby is going to start putting up the house wrap on the gabel ends too. Either today or tomorrow. Going to put in the gable end vents too.

I just tell myself when my job is driving me crazy, getting the house finished getting the house finished. :lol2: :lol2:

The devil is in the details of the finishing work. I don't think I'll ever build another house. Everything seems to go so fast until you hit the interior but you needn't get in a hurry there or you'll be sorry later. Lots easier to do it right the first time and be done with it. Oh, hang in there!

I have been following along on your house project and really enjoying it. Feel like I learned some stuff, too.

Hang in there, it is going to be such a lovely home when you are done, it will all be worth it!

Just taking our time with it Jo.

Here are some pics

Finally heard from Home Depot. They are claiming that my order for the R-15 was not placed. Really? It was placed at the same time as the other stuff, so why did the stuff I ordered second show up and not the stuff I ordered first? Hmmm.

Hubby got the gable end vents in and they made a huge difference in the attic. Got the house wrap up. He is now going to get ready to start haying so the house is going to be put on hold.

The worst thing we are talking about is having to have the slab in front of the basement door cut off with a concrete saw and pull it out. Then lower the grade and put a pan and flashing in front of the door to stop the leak. Hubby claims he just needs to put a metal pan and caulking under it and it will quit leaking. Been arguing about it. I'm going on what I have researched. He's going on what he thinks might work.

Picked up the rest of my Roxul today. No plans to ever cross Home Depots threshold ever again. Just tired of the run around they give me every time. The clerk also locked up our tie down too. Couldn't get it to release. Took 2 of us to get it off the bundle.

Went to a different store and picked up a roll of flashing for the doors. So we have that ready to go when we pull the doors.
Not sure I have enough Roxul to finish the upstairs walls. I do have enough for the downstairs though. Going to cut the 6 inch thick stuff to finish off the stair way in the basement. That is 24" wide spaceed 2x4 wall.

Got the window and the logs in the stair way polyureathaned today. If everyone remembers how I hate being on a ladder, I figured out a different way to do those logs. I took a handle off a broom and taped the paint brush to it and did the logs that way. Looked weird but it worked and I got 2 coats of poly on the logs. Also didn't cost me an arm and a leg to get the job done.
Just need to let that cure and then chink it and that project is 100% done.
Been putting up the Roxul in the basement today. Son's room and closet are done. Just going to finish out daughters room and see if I can get the basement done today.

Got daughters room finished. Got 2 walls done in their bathroom. Hubby asked me to leave the one next to the utility room open for now. Got that one spot that was left in the hallway next to the electrical panel (Hallway pic in an earlier post) and some done in the rec room area.
I've gone through 3 bags so far. Got 4 bags left. There are 12 mats per bag.

Already starting the list of things we want to get done this winter. Right at the top is run the duct work for the furnance. Put up sheet rock and get the Nu Heat pads for the bathroom's and kitchen.
I'm looking at a product called Dri Core to put down on the basement floor. Found a listing at Lowes for it. Going to see if the hardware store I buy from can get it in. Found out they have the Roxul on hand at their store! No more HD for me!
