Horse Hay Feeder?

Bought a new cattle hay ring today, before I put it together and can't take it back, I was wondering how a horse hay feeder would work around the cattle? My thinking is that it may be too high for calves, or a calf might get up in there and get stuck or something? I would get the one with enclosed bottom.

The reason I am contemplating it is because there is an off chance of boarding horses here next year and as far as I have heard they don't like their manes getting damaged.

An added benefit is the bull might not pick it up as much and move it scratching his neck?

I was at a farm sale and was talking to a man about buying the horse feeder rings cause they were cheap and use for cattle he said they are find if you don't have calves but his neighbor had one get his head stuck trying to get over in there and get a bite of hay and get out. I don't know if it was true or bs but I didn't buy them because I didn't want to take a chance of something bad happening.
