One of my bulls is very ouchy on his front foot. I put him in the chute and hosed his foot off, picked the toe jam out. After about 15 minutes of washing, his foot started bleeding. I can see a small spot on the hoofline that is oozing.
I sprayed it with peroxide and iodine and put him in a dry, bedded pen to try and keep it clean.
I'm more familiar with horses, but do cattle get hoof abcesses like horses do? Is there anything else that needs to be done for him? Is there something else this could be? He did seem to appreciate that cold water (though not the toe jam picking) and it's maybe slightly less ouchy than before.
Thanks Jena
